Access to higher education is not determined solely by academic ability. For students outside the United States, exchange rates and national income levels can make the same tuition rate a very different burden. GCA’s Global Access Scholarship addresses this directly: tuition is reduced by 40% for residents of upper-middle-income economies and by 60% for residents of lower-middle-income and low-income economies, based on the World Bank income classification of the student’s country of legal residence. Residents of high-income economies pay the standard tuition. An economy whose currency lost more than 30% of its value against the U.S. dollar over the three most recent years for which data are published moves one tier higher. The scholarship is applied automatically at admission; there is no application or essay. The full country tier schedule is on the Global Access Scholarship page.
